This bakery is a Kaneohe gem and has been around longer than I have. From my earliest memories of family dinners at my grandparents or uncles, we always had a pie or cake from deluxe. Family favorite is the apple custard pie or lemon crunch. Please bring it back; we miss it!

Crossed the island to the windward side to visit our loved ones for Memorial Day this past weekend, and wanted something sweet. Went to my trusty Yelp app and typed in Bakery.. the first suggestion was Deluxe Pastry Shop. I was sold when I seen the photos of the custard puffs and knew I had to try it. We ended up popping and getting an assortment of pastries including the custard puffs, mini chantilly and chocolate puffs, chantilly brownies and a cupcake for the little one. I only tried the custard puffs and the mini chantilly puffs, both were delicious. My kids ate up the rest of the desserts, so I will make the assumption that they were just as tasty. Lol. Side note, the female worker was very helpful and there is cute painting on the left hand side of the bakery.

Today I was in the Kaneohe area so decided to stop at Deluxe Pastry shop . I was craving for their custard pies. If you haven't tried their custard pies it's the bomb! I would say it's my top 3 custard pie on the Island. To my luck they sold out of their custard pie so my second choice was Apple pie. Their Apple was buttery and flaky but the apples was on the tart side. I like my Apple pies on the sweeter Apple side. While I was looking into their showcase I seen something that I didn't see before.it was almost like Snow Puffies from Paalakai Bakery in Waialua . So I ordered one to taste while I was driving in my car lol . It was very flaky and messing so I needed to vacuum my car afterwards but the custard filling was very good and their chocolate topping they use is not hard chocolate like Paalakai it was milk chocolate so it was melting. Other than that its very comparable and you don't have to drive all the way to the North Shore . Support local

So many bakeries on the windward side. Was craving a really good scone, and to my surprise it was amazing. So soft, buttery, and I love the chunk of cream cheese. I'd totally come back just to buy a box. And maybe try their custard pie, that looked really good too. I got bunch of other random things to try. Like custard danish, donut holes, long John and apple turnover. I didn't think they had a super wide variety but they had scones and that was enough for me. The hubs really liked the Apple turnover. All the other stuff we got was good too but not really our normal choice in pastries so we thought it was ok. My kid loved it though. So thumbs from me. Would've been a 5 star if maybe they had some savory pastries too. Still great though.

Nice people - lots of parking - open on Sunday.. you need to go early! We were there by 840 am and only 2 donuts left! We got their custard pie - OMG so good - ok why drive to Honolulu when you can get a great smooth beautiful custard pie in Kaneohe! Most custard pies have a soggy crust but their crust wasn't good crispy crust a smooth .... Not too sweet - custard Long John - good custard filling Custard crispy puffs - crispy light and filled with yummy custard! Notice the custard theme? Yes we love the custard here in Hawaii but most bakeries are not using a made from scratch or good quality pre made but our experience here was very positive! This is a local bakery - not the most friendly and no prices are listed so you just need to ask and .... Oh well their pastries pies and cakes are awesome so you just pay what they tell you and walk out with your yummy goodies knowing it will put a smile on your face

Where else can you find chantilly eclairs, snow puffies and manju all in the same place? And ever since Kaneohe Bakery closed down, I had to go support the closest bakery, Deluxe Bakery! And I'm happy to say that I don't have to drive all the way to Waialua for snow puffies because I have comparable ones closer to me. The pastry puff like outside is light and crisp with the oooey custard filling on the inside. I'm sad that they didn't have the haupia filled ones that day, but I guess I have to go down there earlier to snatch some up. The custard filled eclairs were yummy along with the manju which were a little more crumbly than I would've liked (it was falling apart as I was eating it) but it was still delicious all the same.

I blame my Yelp buddies - Roz M. & Craig T. for voodooing me, making me goto Deluxe Pastry Shop! Lol! Roz M. - for posting her awesome pics @ Deluxe Pastry Shop, as I saw a pics of some Custard Danishes, and Craig T. because recently while I was at a birthday party, we were takin' about custard pies, and Craig T. gave me da scoops about da Custard Pie from Deluxe!!! Aiyah, you guys..........what you do to me!!! So today, I was working in Kaneohe, and after I finished up a job, I decided to make my way down to the Deluxe Pastry Shop. A few thing went wrong for me today, but you no can "gong" me, cuz at least Bruddah Fran made da effort to support a local business, and to come here to try & get some custard danishes, and to check out da custard pies (both of which they did not have today)! "GONG!!!!" Okay, I gong myself!!! Buwahahahahahaha! So as I drove past this bakery, I saw an open door, so I pulled into the parking lot & walked straight into da bakery, not knowing they were actually closed today! Aiyah! There was nobody at the counter, but shortly afterwards a nice lady came out from the back to help me. There weren't a lot of items left on the display shelf, but I guess it was just items that were left over from the weekend, as the Deluxe Pastry Shop is currently opened (3) days a week, due to the Covid-19 pandemic right now. Unfortunately today, there were no Custard Pies, or Custard Danishes (insert Sad Panda face), but I figured since I was here already, I mine as well buy something to help this local business. After looking over the offerings, I decided to pick up a few Haupia Snow Puffies. What can I say about the Haupia Snow Puffies? Although the puffies could have used a little more filling, the taste & texture was excellent! The pastry shell was very light & flaky, and the haupia was tasty, but I only wished they squirted more filling in those puffies. Looks like I'll have to come back another time to try & get my custard fix! Support local!

On the way home my wife picked picked up some apple turnovers and glaze donuts for our dessert. Turnovers are baked using their pie crust. Buttery but not flaky. The apple filling is like their apple pie delicious. As for the glazed donuts it was good. If I ate it yesterday when it was bought probably would have been better.
